Dubai Design District (D3) was launched in 2013 as part of the Dubai Plan 2021, aiming to position the emirate as a global hub for innovation and design. Developed by TECOM Group, the district operates under the TECOM Free Zone and Dubai Development Authority (DDA).
Key Highlights of D3
- Purpose-built creative district housing global luxury brands, design studios, and artist workshops
- Home to the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI)
- Hosts major events including Dubai Design Week, Dubai Fashion Week, and Sole DXB
- Part of the TECOM Free Zone with freelancer and business licensing benefits
- Renowned for street art and avant-garde architecture throughout the district
Phase 1, completed in 2015, comprises 11 buildings featuring offices, coworking spaces, showrooms, and retail outlets. In January 2026, Meraas announced an expanded residential masterplan covering 18 million sq ft, transforming D3 into a waterfront neighborhood integrating residential, cultural, retail, and hospitality uses.
The atmosphere at D3 is distinctly cosmopolitan and relaxed — a come-as-you-are creative space where industry experts and local entrepreneurs connect, create, and collaborate.
