Eight themed islands and a cluster that replays the Caribbean

Damac Islands 2 repeats the formula that sold out the first project's stock: a master plan split into eight clusters, each named after a tropical island (Bahamas, Tahiti, Bermuda, Cuba, Maui, Mauritius, Antigua and Barbados). Barbados 2 is one of these sectors, built by DAMAC Properties, with handover scheduled for 30 June 2030. The architecture leans horizontal, with low lines, open terraces and continuity between living room and garden. The scheme includes no apartments at all. Buyers will only find 4 and 5 bedroom townhouses, 5 bedroom twin villas and 6 bedroom villas, all freehold. The brochure lists over 45 amenities spread across the whole community.

Townhouses and family villas only

The mix is deliberately narrowed toward the upscale family segment. The smallest units start at four bedrooms, which rules out studios and single young professionals from the start. DAMAC is targeting established expat families here, often already owners of a first property in Dubai, who are after floor space and a private garden. The 5 bedroom twin villas and 6 bedroom villas offer the largest volumes, with attention paid to room proportions and the flow between indoor and outdoor space. The intent is clear: prioritize ground-level space and everyday living over height and views, since there is no tower here. This positioning places Barbados 2 closer to villa communities like DAMAC Hills than to the towers of Business Bay or Dubai Harbour.

A swimming lagoon at the heart of the project

The centerpiece amenity is a neighborhood-scale swimming lagoon, backed up by saltwater pools. Around it, the brochure details a botanical garden, a butterfly oasis, bird-watching points and an orchard. The wellness hub, named Island Vida, combines a spa, hydrotherapy, a medicinal herb garden and essential oil therapy. On the sports side, residents get a fitness room, an outdoor gym, a multi-sport court and walking trails. Kayakers get their own dedicated body of water, something rarely found in an inland villa community.

Treehouses and cave dinners

The brochure pushes the adventure theme well beyond a simple pool. A trail called Sky Forest features treehouses perched above ground, a canopy-top walkway and zip lines. The dining concept goes beyond standard restaurants: barbecue inside a cave, breakfast under a tent, dinner out in nature. A cultural hub brings together a library-museum, a performance plaza, a food market and a climate-controlled study garden under a dome. A restaurant tucked behind a waterfall rounds out the setting. These features reflect a full resort mindset, aimed at keeping residents on-site rather than sending them off to the city's malls.

Fifteen minutes from DAMAC Hills, twenty-three from Al Maktoum

The neighborhood relies on the highway network running along Dubai's southwest corridor. Sports City, Motor City and DAMAC Hills are all listed at fifteen minutes away. The Expo 2020 site sits twenty minutes out, and Al Maktoum International Airport twenty-three minutes. The Burj area is reachable in twenty-five minutes, Burj Al Arab in thirty-five. Dubai International Airport remains further off, at forty minutes. This location bets on the growth of the Al Maktoum corridor, set to become the world's largest airport, rather than on proximity to the historic city center.

DAMAC builds on the first Islands sellout

The developer makes no secret of the strategy: Damac Islands 1 sold out completely, every unit gone, and Islands 2 is presented as the direct continuation of that master plan. The community adds new spaces and new experiences around the same tropical narrative. DAMAC also highlights a concrete sustainability angle for the area: a solar garden, photovoltaic charging stations, lanes for electric scooters and LEED certifications the developer claims across its projects. For a buyer, the appeal lies in the long timeline, with handover set for mid-2030, giving the southwest corridor's infrastructure time to build up around the plot.
